BETTER TRANSPORTATION: Jan has funded basics like maintaining streets and bridges and fought for priorities like the Viaduct and light rail. Jan will make the viaduct replacement and transportation improvements her primary focus for the next four years.

EFFICIENT TRANSIT: Seattle needs integrated, cost effective transit solutions. Jan helped make sure light rail serves our neighborhoods, and has demanded that the Monorail Board develop a realistic solution or end the tax.

HELPING SCHOOLS: Seattle ’s children deserve betters schools. Jan will expand partnerships with our schools—building on the legacy she helped create through the original Families and Education Levy.

NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS: Jan voted to fund neighborhood police, voted against closing fire stations, and helped small business owners and community groups improve our neighborhood commercial districts.

NEW PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS: Jan led council review for the Pro-Parks levy investing millions in new and improved parks and playgrounds, restoring forest and salmon habitat, and providing off-leash areas and P-Patches.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: Jan is committed to all the people of Seattle and promoting equity for racial, gender, and sexual minorities in government offices, programs and laws. As budget chair, Jan led the charge to restore needed social programs and human services after Tim Eyman’s Initiative 695 devastated Seattle’s budget. She successfully expanded food bank funding and low-income housing and treatment programs because Jan understands the importance of helping people those in need get back on their feet.
